Stage 1 — Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Multiple-choice objective type questions in concerned discipline only

- Based on CBT scores, candidates shortlisted in 1:3 ratio (discipline-wise, category-wise) for GD & Interview
- If two or more candidates tie at the cut score (the 3× mark), all are called for GD & Interview
- CBT score carries 70% of the final merit
Stage 2 — Group Discussion (GD)
- Conducted discipline-wise and category-wise in batches; batch size decided based on turnout

Q4. What does CBT 70% weightage mean in practice?
The final merit list is computed as: CBT score × 70% + GD score × 15% + Interview score × 15%. A candidate who scores very high in CBT has a huge advantage. Conversely, even with a perfect GD+Interview, a weak CBT score (say 50 vs 85 in CBT) will make it extremely difficult to compete — the exam is the dominant stage.
Q5. Can I apply for multiple disciplines?
No — only one application per notification. The system will accept the latest application and reject all older ones if multiple are submitted. Apply only for the discipline you are qualified for and wish to be considered for.
Q6. Where will selected candidates be posted?
All selected Executive Trainees will be posted at NMDC Steel Limited, Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh — the site of NSL’s 3 MTPA steel plant. They may be assigned to any function or office as per business requirements. Court jurisdiction for any disputes is at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. No posting outside Chhattisgarh is indicated for initial years.
